أَجْلَى

Root: جلو

Full Definition

أَجْلَى Having that degree of baldness which is termed جَلًا; i. e. baldness of the fore part of the head: or baldness of half of the head; which is the beginning of صَلَعٌ: or baldness less than what is termed صَلَعٌ: or baldness of half of the head, and the like: fem. جَلْوَآءٌ. [See أَجْلَحُ.]
2 Beautiful, or handsome, in face, bald in the sides of the forehead.
3 جَبْهَةٌ جَلْوَآءُ A wide forehead.
4 سَمَآءٌ جَلْوَآءٌ A cloudless sky: and لَيْلَةٌ جَلْوَآءُ a cloudless, bright, night.
5 اِبْنُ أَجْلَى: see اِبْنُ جَلَا, in two places.
6 Also (i. e. ابن اجلى) The lion.

def.2 فَعَلْتُهُ مِنْ أَجْلَاكَ, and , I did it on account of thee, for thy sake, or because of thee; syn. مِنْ أَجْلِكَ.
