أَخْدَرِىٌّ

Full Definition

أَخْدَرِىٌّ A wild ass: so called from a certain stallion named الأَخْدَرُ: some say, this was a horse, belonging to Ardasheer, that became wild: and some say that he was an ass: or so called in relation to El-'Irák, but ISd says, I know not how this is: the pl. is أَخْدَرِيَّاتٌ; and بَنَاتُ is used as a pl.; and [in like manner] بنات الأَخْدَرِىِّ means the [wild] she-asses. (TA in art. بنى.)
