أَخْطَبَIV see 2.
2 [Accord. to the KL, إِخْطَابٌ signifies The inviting one for the purpose of marriage: but I think it is only اِخْتِطَابٌ that has this signification.]
3 أَخْطَبَكَ الصَّيْدُ The game, or object of the chase, has become within thy power, or reach; and has become near thee; فَٱرْمِهِ [therefore shoot it, or cast at it]. And اخطبك الأَمْرُ The thing, or affair, has become within thy power, or reach.

def.2 اخطب, said of the colocynth, It became striped with green: or it became yellow, with green stripes. And اخطبتِ الحِنْطَةُ The wheat became coloured.
