أَسْبَتَIV see 1, former half, in four places.
2 اسبتت الحَيَّةُ, Verbal.Noun إِسْبَاتٌ The serpent was, or became, silent; or bent down its head, or lowered its eyes, looking towards the ground.

def.2 [اسبت It produced the kind, or degree, or semblance, of sleep termed سُبَات: and hence, it torpified, or benumbed: often used in this sense in medical works: and سبّت is also used in this sense in the present day.]
