أَوْبَةٌ

Root: اوب

Full Definition

أَوْبَةٌ and أَيْبَةٌ Return; as also إِيَابَةٌ , a subst. from آبَ. You say, لِيَهْنِئْكَ أَوْبَةُ الغَائِبِ [May the return of the absent give thee joy]. And فُلانٌ سَرِيعُ الأَوْبَةِ and Such a one is quick in return.
2 Return from disobedience to obedience; repentance. (TA in art. ايب.)
3 كَلَامٌ لَا أَوْبَةَ لَهُ Speech, or language, without profit.

def.2 أَوْبَةٌ is also the sing. of أَوْبَاتٌ, which signifies The legs of a beast.
