إِنْحَوَزَVII
انحاز القَوْمُ
The company of men left their appointed station, and place of fighting, and turned away to another place. You say also, انحاز عَنْهُ
He turned away from him: and انحاز إِلَيْهِ
he turned to, or towards, him; and he joined himself to him. You say of friends, انحازو عَنِ العَدُوِّ, and حَاصُوا; [They turned away from the enemy;] and of enemies, اِنْهَزَمُوا, and وَلَّوْ مُدْبِرِينَ. Or انحاز signifies He separated himself from others that he might be with those who were fighting. And انحاز الرَّحُلُ إِلَى القَوْمِ signifies the same as إِلَيْهِمْ [The man turned, removed, withdrew, or retired, or he joined himself, to the company of men]. See 5, in two places.
2 انحاز عَلَى الشَّىْءِ [for عن, in the TA, I have substituted على, as the former is apparently a mistranscription] He drew himself together, and fell to the thing; expl. by ضَمَّ بَعْضَهُ عَلَى بَعْضٍ وَأَكَبَّ عَلَيْهِ.
