Full Definition
2 He sat upright, not in an easy posture; syn. اِسْتَوْفَزَ; as also تحفّز . [See the part. n., below.]
3 He drew himself together (تَضَامَّ) in his prostration and sitting. It is said in a trad. of 'Alee, إِذَا صَلَّتِ المَرْأَةُ فَلْتَحْتَفِزْ When the woman prays, let her draw herself together in her sitting and prostration, and not put her arms apart from her sides, like the man.
4 He settled himself in a sitting posture upon his buttocks: or upon his knees, as though he would rise: or he was uneasy, and raised himself, being vexed, or disquieted by grief: or he desired to rise and to lay violent hands upon a thing, while sitting.
