Full Definition

احدقواIV ; and به, Present.T ـِ Verbal.Noun حَدْقٌ; and احدود به; They surrounded, encompassed, or encircled, him, or it; namely, a man, or a town or the like: or they went round or round about, circuited, or compassed, him, or it. You say of anything, احدق به as meaning It surrounded, encompassed, or encircled, it; as, for instance, a house [or a wall] surrounds a garden. Thus you say, عَلَيْهِ شَامَةٌ سَوْدَآءُ قَدْ أَحْدَقَ بِهَا بَيَاضٌ [Upon him is a black mole which whiteness has surrounded]. And أَحْدَقَتْ بِهِ المَنِيَّةُ Death encompassed him.
2 أَحْدَقُوا بِهِ الأَحْدَاقِ, a phrase used by El- Hareeree, means They made the blacks of the eyes to surround him.

def.2 احدقتِ الرَّوْضَةُ, or احدقت الروضة عُشْبًا, i. e. [The meadow] became a حَدِيقَة [q. v.], [by producing herbs such as are termed عشب; for] without عشب it is a روضة.
