اعراهُ

Root: عرو

Form: 4

Full Definition

اعراهُIV He assigned to him a palm-tree as an عَرِيَّة [q. v.; accord. to some, belonging to art. عرى], for him to eat its fruit: [i. e.] he gave to him the fruit of a palm-tree during a year. (S; and K in art. عرى.)

def.2 اعراهُ صَدِيقُهُ His friend went, or removed, far away from him, and did not aid him. And أَعْرَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ They left their companion in his place; and went away from him. [But these two significations seem rather to belong to art. عرى.]

def.3 See also 2.

def.4 اعرى, intrans., He was, or became, fevered, or affected with fever. (TA. [From عُرَوَآءُ.])
2 And أَعْرَيْنَا We were, or became, affected by a cold night [such as is termed لَيْلَةٌ عَرِيَّةٌ]: or we came to experience the cold of evening. One says, أَهْلَكَ فَقَدْ أَعْرَيْتَ i. e. [Betake thyself to thy family, for thou hast reached the time when] the sun has set and the evening has become cold.
