الفِرْنَاسُ : see الفَارِسُ, in two places.
2 Also The strong and courageous, of men, as being likened to the lion.
3 And The headman, or chief, of the دَهَاقِين [pl. of دِهْقَانٌ, q. v.], and of the villages, or towns: pl. فَرَانِسَةٌ.
