,] pl. مَعَانِقُ, A certain small creeping thing; AHát says that المَعَانِقُ signifies [the small creeping things called] مُقَرِّضَاتُ الأَسَاقِى [that gnaw holes in the skins used for water or milk], having neck-rings (أَطْوَاق), [app. white marks round the neck, for it is added,] with a whiteness in their necks.
