بِيتَةٌ a subst. from بَاتَ: and signifying A manner or mode, and state, or condition, of passing, or entering upon, the night. [See 4; last sentence.]

def.2 Food, or victuals; and so بِيتٌ : [or particularly, of a night: for] you say, مَا لَهُ لَيْلَةٍ, and بِيتَةٌ لَيْلَةٍ, مِنَ القُوتِ, He has not a night's food, or victuals.
