Full Definition

تحيّاV He shrank from it: taken from الحَيَآءُ [or الحَيَاةُ]; because it is of the nature of the living to shrink: or it is originally تَحَوَّى; the و being changed into ى; or [in other words] from الحَىُّ “ the act of collecting, ” [Verbal.Noun of حَوَاهُ,] like تَحَيَّزَ from الحَوْزُ.
