Full Definition

ترقّصV [lit., He, or it, became danced or dandled.
2 And hence,] He, or it, became raised and lowered; or rose and sank; or went up and down. You say, ترقّصوا فِى مَسِيرِهِمْ They went up and down in their journeying; as also . And Er-Rá'ee uses the phrase تَرَقَّصَتِ المَفَازَةُ, meaning, The desert [in appearance] went up and down; the mirage, only, making it [seem] to rise and sink.
