تعنّىV He [a camel] was, or became, smeared with عَنِيَّة [q. v.]: whence the saying of EshShaabee, لَأَنْ أَتَعَنَّى بِعَنِيَّةٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَقُولَ فِى مَسْأَلَةٍ بِرَأْيِى [Verily my being smeared with عَنِيَّة would be more approvable to me than my saying respecting a question according to my opinion].
