تُغُلِّسَ , or فِى وَادِى تُغُلِّسَ, and تُغَلِّسَ, imperfectly decl., like تُخُيِّبَ and تُهُلِّكَ, He fell into calamity, or into an abominable calamity, and that which was vain, unreal, nought, or the like: originating from the fact that غَارَات [or hostile, or predatory, incursions] generally took place early, بِغَلَسٍ.
