جَاثِمٌ A bird, and a hare, and sometimes a gazelle, or a [young gazelle such as is termed] خِشْف, and a camel, and a jerboa, and a man, cleaving to the ground: or keeping to his place, not quitting it: or falling upon his breast: as also جَثُومٌ : [or the latter] and جَثَّامٌ doing so much, or often: and جَثَّامَةٌ doing so very much, or very often: and the first, also, sitting upon his legs like a bird: pl. جُثُومٌ [and جُثَّمٌ, accord. to Freytag].
