Full Definition

جَارِيَةٌ A ship; because of its running upon the sea: an epithet in which the quality of a subst. predominates: pl. جَوَارٍ
2 The sun; because of its running from region to region: or the sun's disk in the sky. And الجَوَارِى الكُنَّسُ The stars. (TA. [But see art. كنس.])
3 The wind: pl. as above.
4 A girl, or young woman; a female of which the male is termed غُلَامٌ; so called because of her activity and running; opposed to عَجُوزٌ: and a female slave; (Mgh voce غُلَامٌ;) [in this sense] applied even to one who is an old woman, unable to work, or to employ herself actively; alluding to what she was: pl. as above.
5 The eye of any animal.
6 A benefit, favour, boon, or blessing, bestowed by God upon his servants.
