def.2 Also, Verbal.Noun تَجْلِيَةٌ and تَجْلِىٌّ, He raised his head, and looked, seeing the prey: or he closed his eyes, and then opened them, in order to see more clearly.
2 And [hence,] جلّى بِبَصَرِهِ, Verbal.Noun تَجْلِيَةٌ, He cast his eyes like the hawk looking at the prey.

def.3 [جلّى is also mentioned , on the authority of Mtr, as signifying He, or it, outstripped; from المُجَلِّى meaning “ the first of the horses in a race; ” but as being not known in this sense on any other authority.]
