Full Definition

حَتَّهُI , Present.T حَتُتَ Verbal.Noun حَتٌّ, He scraped it, or rubbed it, off, or rubbed it and scraped it off, or scraped it off by little and little, namely, a thing, as, for instance, blood, or semen, or something dry, from a garment, or the like, with the hand, or with a stick, or piece of wood, or with the end of a stone or of a stick or piece of wood. And حَتَّ الوَرَقَ, Verbal.Noun as above, He removed the leaves [by rubbing or scraping], from a branch, or from trees.
2 Hence, حَتَّ ٱللّٰهُ مَالَهُ, Verbal.Noun as above, God destroyed, or may God destroy, his property: or God caused his property to pass away, and so reduced him to poverty; or may God cause &c.
3 And حَتَّهُ عَنِ الشَّىْءِ, Present.T and Verbal.Noun as above, He repelled him, drove him back, or turned him back, from the thing.
4 حَتَّهُ مِائَةَ دِرْهَمٍ He payed him hastily a hundred dirhems. And حَتَّهُ مِائَةَ سَوْطٍ He inflicted upon him hastily a hundred lashes with a whip.
5 حَتَّ الشَّىْءَ i. q. حَطَّهُ [He put the thing; put it down; &c.].
