حُجْنَةٌ

Full Definition

حُجْنَةٌ : see حَجَنٌ.
2 Also Crispness [or recurvation] in the extremities of hair. (T, TA. [See أَحْجَنُ.])
3 A place of crookedness or curvature of a staff or stick.
4 The hook in the head of a spindle, with which the thread is caught preparatively to the twisting thereof.
5 The خُوصَة, or خُوص, [i. e.] the leaves [or blades], of ثُمَام [or panic grass]; as also حَجَنَةٌ . And حَجَنٌ [of which حَجَنَةٌ is the n. un., if not a mistranscription of حُجَنٌ,] Tender, or soft, shoots, that grow upon the sides of the stalks of the ثُمَام and the ضَعَة [which is said to be a species of ثُمَام]. And حُجَنٌ, pl. of حُجْنَةٌ, The fruit-stalks of grapes.
