حَرِيفٌ A fellow-worker, syn. مُعَامِلٌ, in one's craft or ordinary occupation: and an associate: pl. حُرَفَآءُ.
2 It is mostly used by foreigners as meaning A companion in drinking: and by most of the Turks, as implying vituperation; [like our term “ fel-low; ”] so that when any one of them addresses another by this epithet, he is angry.
