حُشٌّ , but the former is the more common, and
حِشٌّ , A garden: or a garden of palm-trees: pl. حِشَّانٌ and حُشَّانٌ.
2 Hence, A privy; likewise called بَيْتُ الحَشِّ or
: because they used to ease themselves in the gardens: then, when they made privies, they applied thus this appellation: and in like manner, مَحَشٌّ ; but accord. to the Abridgment of the 'Eyn., this is proper, not tropical: or this last, also written
مِحَشٌّ , signifies the same; or a place in which human ordure has become collected: the pl. of حشّ as applied to a privy is حُشُوشٌ and حُشُّونَ.
