Full Definition

حَظَرَهُI , and حَظَرَ عَلَيْهِ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun حَظْرٌ and حِظَارٌ, He forbade it; prohibited it; interdicted it. The Arabs say, لَا حِظَارَ عَلَى الأَسْمَآءِ There is no prohibition against names; i. e., no one is forbidden to be named, or to name himself, as he pleases.
2 حَظَرَ الشَّىْءَ عَلَيْهِ It debarred the thing from him. And حُظِرَ عَلَيْهِ كَذَا Such a thing was debarred from him, by something intervening.
3 Also حَظَرَهُ, Verbal.Noun حَظْرٌ, He took it to, or for, himself; as though he withheld it from others.
4 And حَظَرَ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun حَظْرٌ, He confined cattle in a حَظِيرَة. And حَظَرَ عَلَى نَعَمِهِ He confined his cattle in a حَظَار.
5 And حَظَرَ, [Present.T app. as above,] Verbal.Noun حَظْرٌ; ; He made a حَظِيرَة: or the former, or Verbal.Noun إِحْظَارٌ, he made a حظيرة for another: and he made a حظيرة for himself.
