Full Definition

حَلَاقِ , indecl., with kesr for its termination, because changed from its original form, which is حَالِقَةٌ, of the fem. gender, and an epithet in which the quality of a subst. is predominant; Death that peels [people] off; as also حَلَاقٌ, allowed by Ibn-'Abbád; and, accord. to the Tekmileh, حِلَاقٌ also. One says, سُقُوا بِكَأْسِ حَلَاقِ [They were given to drink the cup of death]. [See also جَعَارِ.]
