حَنِيكٌ

Full Definition

حَنِيكٌ A man rendered firm, or sound, in judgment, by means of experience; as also مُحَنَّكٌ and مُحْنَكٌ and and مُحْتَنَكٌ and حُنُكٌ , q. v.: or محنك [i. e. either مُحَنَّكٌ or مُحْنَكٌ ], accord. to Lth, signifies a man whom the management of affairs has rendered experienced so that nothing that he does is despised: and مُحْتَنَكٌ , a man whose intellect and age have reached the utmost degree [of maturity].
2 Also An old man.
3 And Niggardly, tenacious, or avaricious.
4 And حَنِيكَةٌ A good eater; applied to a دَابَّة [or beast]; to a she-camel, and to a sheep or goat.
