Full Definition

حَارَI , Present.T يَحُورُ, Verbal.Noun حَوْرٌ and حُؤُورٌ and حُورٌ, a contraction of the form next preceding, used in poetry, in case of necessity, and مَحَارٌ and مَحَارَةٌ and حَوْرَةٌ, He, or it, returned, إِلَى شَىْءٍ to a thing, and عَنْهُ from it.
2 [Hence,] حار عَلَيْهِ It returned to him [who was its author; or recoiled upon him].
3 And حَارَتِ الغُصَّةُ The thing sticking in the throat, and choking, descended; as though it returned from its place.
4 [And حار, Verbal.Noun حَوْرٌ and حُورٌ, He returned from a good state to a bad.] You say, حار بَعْدَ مَا كَانَ He returned from a good state after he had been in that state: so says 'Asim: or حار بعد ما كَارَ He became in a state of defectiveness after he had been in a state of redundance: or it is from حار, Verbal.Noun حَوْرٌ, He untwisted his turban: and means He became in a bad state of affairs after he had been in a good state. 5 حَارَ وَبَارَ He became in a defective and bad state. (TA. [Here بار is an imitative sequent; (see حَائِرٌ;) as is also يَبُورُ in a phrase mentioned below.])
6 حار, Present.T as above, inf n. حَوْرٌ and حُورٌ and مَحَارَةٌ and مَحَارٌ, (M and TA in art. اول,) It decreased, or became defective or deficient. (S, * A, * Msb, K. * [See also حَوْرٌ, below.])
7 Also, Verbal.Noun حَوْرٌ and حُورٌ, He perished, or died.
8 Also, Present.T يَحُورُ, Verbal.Noun حَوْرٌ, He, or it, became changed from one state, or condition, into another: and it became converted into another thing.
9 مَا يَحُورُ فُلَانٌ وَلَا يَبُورُ Such a one does not increase nor become augmented [in his substance] is said when a person's being afflicted with smallness of increase is confirmed.
