خَثَرَI , Present.T ـُ; and خَثُرَ, Present.T ـُ a rare dial. var.; and خَثِرَ, Present.T ـَ a form heard by Ks; Verbal.Noun خَثْرٌ and خُثُورٌ and خَثَرَانٌ, which last is irregular, because this word does not imply motion, [but this assertion requires consideration,] and خُثُورَةٌ and [of the second accord. to rule] خَثَارَةٌ and of the third خَثَرٌ; [and probably تخثّر , as quasi-pass. of خَثَّرَهُ; but I have more than once found it erroneously written for تختّر, which has a different signification;] it was, or became, thick, and strong.
2 [Hence,] خَثَرَتْ نَفْسُهُ, or خَثِرَتْ, or خَثُرَتٌ, Verbal.Noun خُثُورٌ and خَثَارَةٌ, but not, as some write it, خُثَارَةٌ, His soul [or stomach] heaved, became agitated by a tendency to vomit, or became heavy; as also خَثَرَ alone; became disordered; syn. اِخْتَلَطَتْ.
3 And خَثَرَ; or خَثِرَ, Present.T ـَ; or خَثِرَ فِى الحَىِّ; He remained among the tribe, not going forth with people to procure wheat or corn or other provisions, by reason of shame, or of heaviness of the soul [or stomach].
4 And خَثِرَ He felt, or had a sense of, or he was, or became, moved or affected with, shame, shyness, bashfulness, or honest shame.
