Full Definition

خَطَاI , Present.T يَخْطُو, Verbal.Noun خَطْوٌ; and ; said of a man [and of a beast]; both signify the same; He stepped, paced, or walked; i. q. مَشَى; as also اِخْتَاطَ, [which see in art. خيط,] formed by transposition. You say, خَطَوْتُ خَطْوَةً وَاحِدَةً [I stepped one step]. [And وَسَّعَ الخَطْوَ He stepped wide.] See also the last sentence of the next paragraph.
