خَمْخَمَةٌ

[Verbal.Noun of خَمْخَمَ] i. q. خَنْخنَةٌ, i. e. The [snuffling, or] speaking [indistinctly, through the nose,] as though one were مَخْنُون [app. here meaning affected with the disease termed خُنَان], or مَجْنُون [i. e. bereft of reason, or mad, insane, &c.; and this is another meaning of مَخْنُون], by reason of pride. [See خِمْخِمٌ.]
2 Also The eating in a certain foul manner; and so [Verbal.Noun of تَخَمْخَمَ]. Hence, خَمْخَامٌ [app. meaning One who so cats], used as a proper name. [See also 5.]
