دَامَآءُ
(in the CK [erroneously] دَأْماءُ) The sea, or a great river; syn. بَحْرٌ; because of the continuance of its water: originally دَوَمَآءُ, or دَوْمَآءُ: if the latter, the change of the و into ا is anomalous.
