دَوَلٌ , as an epithet applied to نَبْلٌ [or arrows] i. q. . So in the saying, يُلُوذُ بِالجَوْدِ مِنَ النَّبْلِ الدَّوَلْ [app. relating to a wild animal, and meaning. He seeks, or takes, refuge in the copious rain from the arrows received in turns by one after another of the herd].
