رَاغٍ
[part. n. of رَغَا]. You say نَاقَةٌ رَاغِيَةٌ
A she-camel that utters the cry termed
رُغَآء.
2 [Hence,] مَا لَهُ ثَاغٍ وَلَا رَاغٍ [He has not a sheep or goat, nor a camel]: (TA in art. ثغو:) and مَا لَهُ ثَاغِيَةٌ وَلَا رَاغِيَةٌ He has not a sheep or goat, nor a she-camel: and مَا بِالدَّارِ ثَاغٍ وَلَا رَاغٍ There is not in the house any one. (S and TA in art. ثغو.)
3 Also, رَاغٍ, A certain bird, begotten between the وَرَشَان [q. v.] and the حَمَام [or common pigeon]; an admirable variety: so says Kzw, but he has written the word with the unpointed ع: Es-Suyootee says that in the “ Tibyán ” it is with the pointed غ: and El-Jáhidh mentions its being prolific, long-lived, and having in its cooing a quality which its parents have not.
