Full Definition

رَانِجٌ , or رَانَجٌ, The Indian nut, or cocoa-nut: thought by AHn to be an arabicized word: [J says,] “ I do not think it to be Arabic: ” pl. رَوَانِجُ.
2 Also A kind of smooth date, so some say, like that called تَعْضُوض: [a coll. gen. n.:] n. un. with ة.
3 وَلَدُ الرَّانِجِ is a name given by the children of Mekkeh to The مُقْل [or fruit of the دَوْم, i. e. cucifera Thebaïca, or Theban palm].
