رِبْحٌ and رَبَحٌ and رَبَاحٌ [all originally inf. ns.] Gain, or profit; increase [obtained] in traffic; excess, or surplus, [obtained,] above the capital [expended]; wherefore it is also termed شِفٌّ. [Hence,] البِرُّ خَيْرُ تِجَارَةٍ [Piety is the best traffic in respect of gain, or profit.]
