رَاضَI , Present.T يَرُوضُ, Verbal.Noun رِيَاضَةٌ and رِيَاضٌ, or the latter is used poetically for the former, and رَوْضٌ, He broke, or trained, a colt, or beast, and made it easy to ride upon: or he taught it to go: and روّض , Verbal.Noun تَرْوِيضٌ, he did so well, or vigorously.
2 Hence, رَاضَ صَاحِبَهُ [He made his companion easy and tractable].
3 [Hence also,] رَاضَ نَفْسَهُ [He trained, disciplined, or subdued, himself: or] he became clement, or forbearing. And نَفْسَكَ بِالتَّقْوَى [Train, discipline, or subdue, thyself well by piety].
4 [Hence also,] رَاضَ الشَّاعِرُ القَوَافِىَ [The poet rendered rhymes, or verses, easy to him by practice]. And روّض لَهُ أَمْرًا He made an affair easy to him; syn. سَوَّسَهُ, q. v. (TA in art. سوس.)
5 [Hence also,] رُضْتُ الدُّرَّ, Verbal.Noun رِيَاضَةٌ, I bored the pearls: and هُوَ صَعْبُ الرِّيَاضَةِ, and سَهْلُ الرياضة, It is difficult to bore, and easy to bore.
