Full Definition

سَابِلٌ Travelling upon a road: pl. سَوَابِلُ and [coll. gen. n.] سَابِلَةٌ ; this last signifies travellers, or a company of people, following, or succeeding, one another, or going repeatedly to and fro, upon the roads, or upon the road, for the accomplishment of their wants: it is made fem. as denoting a جَمَاعَة.
2 Also, سَابِلَةٌ , (TA in art. شغر,) or سَبِيلٌ سَابِلَةٌ, A travelled road; a beaten road. (TA in art. شغر.)

def.2 غَيْثٌ سَابِلٌ Rain falling continuously, or in successive showers, and in large drops, and copiously.
