Full Definition

سَرَجَI , Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun سَرْجٌ, He lied; as also سَرِجَ, Present.T ـَ; but the latter is outweighed [in authority]; like سَدَجَ: and so سرّج : and شَرَجَ. (O and K * in art. شرج.) You say, تَكَلَّمَ فُلَانٌ بِكَلِمَةٍ فَسَرَجَ عَلَيْهَا [Such a one spoke a word, or sentence, and followed it with a lie].
2 And سَرَجَ الكَذِبَ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun سَرْجٌ, He forged the lie. [See also 2.]

def.2 سَرَجٌ, as an Verbal.Noun, signifies The being bright, or shining.
2 [And hence,] سَرِجَ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun سَرَجٌ, said of one's face, It was, or became, beautiful: or, said of a man, he was or became, beautiful in his face: but said by some, to be post-classical; and by some, to be strange.

def.3 سَرَجَتْ شَعْرَهَا, and سرّجت , [thought by SM to be a mistranscription for سرّحت, with the unpointed ح,] She plaited her hair; like سَجَرَتْهُ.

def.4 [سَرَجَ, Present.T ـُ expl. as signifying “ Ephippio instruxit instravitve equum ” by Golius and Freytag, by the latter as on the authority of the S and K, I do not find in either of those lexicons, nor in any other. The verb having this meaning is اسرج only.]
