Full Definition

سَلَأَI , Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun سَلْءٌ; and ; He cooked the سَمْن [here meaning butter], and worked it together, and melted its زُبْد [or fresh, unclarified, portion], until it became clear from the milk remaining in it; he cleared the سمن [or butter] from the زُبْد [or fresh, unclarified, portion]; (Ham p. 2, in explanation of the former phrase; [i. e. he clarified the butter:] and سُلِئَ سَمْنًا, said of fresh butter, it was made into سَمْن [or clarified butter; i. e., was clarified].
2 And سَلَأَ السِمْسِمَ, [Present.T and] Verbal.Noun as above, He pressed the sesame, or sesamum, and extracted its oil.

def.2 سَلَأَ النَّخْلَ, or النَّخْلَةَ, or الجِذْعَ, and العَسِيبَ, [aor, and] Verbal.Noun as above, He plucked off the prickles, i. e. what are called the سُلَّآء, of the palm-trees, or of the palm-tree, or of the palm-trunk, and of the [part called] عَسِيب [of a palm-branch].
