Full Definition

سَلْهَبٌ , sometimes pronounced with ص, Long, or tall; as an epithet of general application: or a tall man: pl. سَلَاهِبَةٌ.
2 Applied to a horse, Long-bodied: or, so applied, large, and long, or tall, and long in the bones; as also سَلْهَبَةٌ , which is applied to the male: and the former, likewise applied to a horse, that presses onward with a penetrative energy or force, or with sharpness of spirit: or, so applied, large and long or tall: and likewise applied to a spear: and tropically, [but in what sense is not explained,] to a wind (رِيحٌ).
3 The fem. سَلْهَبَةٌ signifies Corpulent, or large in body; not an epithet of commendation: or, applied to a woman, it signifies tall or beautiful.
4 And سَلْهَبٌ is the name of A certain dog.
