Full Definition

سمّنهُII , Verbal.Noun تَسْمِينٌ; He, or it, rendered him fat, or plump; or caused him to have much flesh and fat: and signifies the same. It is said in a prov., سَمِّنْ كَلْبَكَ يَأْكُلْكَ [Fatten thy dog, and he will eat thee].
2 سَمَّنَهُمْ, Verbal.Noun as above, He furnished them with سَمْن for travelling-provision, &c.

def.2 تَسْمِينٌ also signifies The act of cooling, in the dial. of Et-Táïf and ElYemen. A fish was brought to El-Hajjáj, broiled, and he said to the cook, or to the man who brought it, سَمِّنْهَا, meaning Cool it: the man who brought it knew not what he meant; so 'Ambeseh Ibn-Sa'eed said to him, He says to thee Cool it a little.
