Full Definition

سَمْهَرِىٌّ , and قَنَاةٌ سَمْهَرِيَّةٌ, A hard spear, and a hard spear-shaft: or so called in relation to a man named سَمْهَرٌ, husband of رُدَيْنَةُ, who used to straighten spears: or in relation to a town or village of Abyssinia, called سَمْهَرٌ: so says Ez-Zubeyr Ibn-Bekkár, but Sgh distrusts this; and the former opinion is the more common. You say also رِمَاحٌ سَمْهَرِيَّةٌ [Hard spears; &c.].
2 وَتَرْ سَمْهَرِىٌّ A strong bow-string.
3 قَدٌّ سَمْهَرِىٌّ A straight stature.
