سَهِرَI , Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun سَهَرٌ, He waked, was sleepless or wakeful, or did not sleep, by night; he abstained from sleep by night; he remained awake all the night or a part thereof: you say سَهِرَ اللَّيْلَ, or بَعْضَ اللَّيْلِ, He remained awake during the night, or a part of the night: [he passed the night, or a part of the night, sleepless, or without sleeping:] and سَهِرْتُ البَارِحَةَ I remained awake last night.
2 مَالَهُ سَهِرَ وَعَهِرَ What aileth him? May he be sleepless by night, and may he grieve, or mourn, is an imprecation of the Arabs. (AZ, TA in this art. and art. عبر.)
