Full Definition

سَارَI , Present.T يَسُورُ, inf. سُؤُورٌ, or سَوْرٌ, or both, or سَوْرَةٌ, [but this last is an Verbal.Noun of un.,] He leaped or sprang, إِلَيْهِ to, or towards, him, and عَلَيْهِ upon him.
2 He leaped, or sprang, [or committed an assault, upon another,] like as he does who behaves in an annoying manner towards his cup-companion in his intoxication.
3 [Hence,] سَارَ الشَّرَابُ فِى رَأْسِهِ, Verbal.Noun سَوْرٌ and سُؤُورٌ and سُوُورٌ, agreeably with the root, and سُوَارٌ, [The wine assaulted, or rushed into, his head]: [or] the wine circulated in his head, and rose into it: or سَارَ الشَّرَابُ, Verbal.Noun سَوْرٌ and سَوْرَةٌ, the wine had an overpowering influence upon the head: and سَارَتْ فِيهِ حُمَيَّا الكَأْسِ the force or overpowering influence, (سَوْرَة,) [or fumes,] of the cup of wine mounted, or rose, to his head, or into his head. 4 And سار, Present.T as above, He was angry.
5 سار, Present.T as above, Verbal.Noun سَوْرٌ, also signifies He rose, or became elevated. سُرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فِى أَعَالِى السُّورِ means I rose to him [upon the upper, or uppermost, parts of the wall of the city or town &c.].
6 And one says to a man, سُرْسُرْ [Rise thou, rise thou, to eminence,] in enjoining aspiration to the means of acquiring eminence, or nobility: from سُرْتُ الحَائِطَ, meaning I ascended, or mounted, upon the wall.
