the abbreviated dim. of أَسْوَدُ: see the latter.
2 Also [as a subst., or an epithet in which the quality of a subst. predominates,] Water; as also أَسْوَدُ : (M: [but see الأَسْوَدَانِ, voce أَسْوَدُ:]) the former is [said to be] used in this sense in negative phrases only: one says, مَاسَقَاهُمْ مِنْ سُوَيْدٍ قَطْرَةً He gave them not to drink a drop of water.
3 أُمُّ سُوَيْدٍ means The anus; syn. الاِسْتُ; [and] so .
