شَرَحَI
, Present.T
ـَ Verbal.Noun شَرْحٌ, He uncovered, laid open, displayed, exposed to view, discovered, revealed, or disclosed.
2 [Hence,] one says, شَرَحَ أَمْرَهُ
3 And شَرَحَ, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun, He opened a thing of any kind, of any substance or material.

5 He widened, or dilated, a thing.
6 Hence, شَرَحَ ٱللّٰهُ صَدْرَهُ, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun,
7 Also He cut; and so شرّح . You say, شَرَحَ اللَّحْمَ, Verbal.Noun as above; and شرّحهُ , Verbal.Noun تَشْرِيحٌ; the former meaning He cut the flesh-meat lengthwise [or into an oblong slice or into such slices]: and the latter, he so cut it much or into many [such] pieces [or slices]: or the former, he cut the flesh-meat from the joint or limb: or both signify he cut the flesh-meat upon the bone: or شَرْحُ اللَّحْمِ signifies تَصْفِيفُهُ; and so : or التَّصْفِيفُ is a kind of ; i. e. the cutting a piece of flesh-meat thin, so that it is translucent by reason of its thinness, and then throwing it upon the live coals.
8 Also, Verbal.Noun as above, He understood speech, or language.
9 And شَرْحٌ also signifies The act of keeping, preserving, or guarding. [And particularly The guarding of seed-produce from the birds; (see شَارِحٌ;) as also شِرَاحَةٌ; (see 1 in art. خفر, fourth sentence;) each an Verbal.Noun, of which the verb is شَرَحَ.]
