Full Definition

شَيْهَمٌ The دُلْدُل [q. v., i. e. hedge-hog; or a certain species of hedge-hog; &c.]: [see also the last sentence of this paragraph:] and, or accord. to AZ, the male hedge-hog: or such as has large prickles or spines, of male hedge-hogs, and the like. عَلَى ظَهْرِ شَيْهَمٍ, occurring in a verse of El-Aashà, is said by AO to mean In a state of fright, or fear.
2 شَيْهَمَةٌ An old woman: or, accord. to IAar, a hedge-hog.
