Full Definition

صَفْوَانُ , and صَافٍ , A day in which the sun is clear, and which is very cold: or a cold day, or a very cold day, without clouds and without thickness [of the air].
2 صَفْوَانُ is also a name of The second of the days of cold: so called because the sky therein is clear of clouds: [as a proper name,] it is determinate, and imperfectly decl. (TA. [See also صُفَيَّةُ.])
