طَاهِرٌ
Clean; free from dirt or filth; or pure; as also
طَهِرٌ and
طَهِيرٌ : fem. طَاهِرَةٌ: pl. (of طَاهِرٌ, TA) أَطْهَارٌ and طَهَارَى, which latter is anomalous, as though its sing. were طَهْرَانُ, and, applied to men, طَاهِرُونَ: and (of
طَهِرٌ , TA) طَهِرُونَ; the only form; there being no broken pl.: and of طَاهِرَةٌ, طَاهِرَاتٌ and طَوَاهِرُ. You say, رَجُلٌ طَاهِرٌ and
طَهِيرٌ [A clean, or pure, man]. And اِمْرَأَةٌ طَاهِرَةٌ مِنَ النَّجَاسَةِ [A woman pure from dirt or filth]. And مَآءٌ طَاهِرٌ
Clean, or pure, water: and also, fit to cleanse or purify with. And ثِيَابٌ طَهَارَى [Clean clothes]. [See also طَهُورٌ.]
2 Pure from the menstrual discharge; in this sense without ة: as also طَاهِرٌ مِنَ الحَيْضِ.
3 هُوَ طَاهِرُ العِرْضِ He is clear from vice, or fault. اِمْرَأَةٌ طَاهِرَةٌ مِنَ العُيُوبِ [A woman pure from vices, or the like]. And رَجُلٌ طَاهِرُ الثِّيَابِ, and طَاهِرُ الأَثْوَابِ, A man free, or far-removed, from low, or ignoble, habits: and in like manner, طَاهِرُ الخُلُقِ, and الخُلُقِ: fem. طَاهِرَة.
