عِضَادَةٌ

2 عِضَادَتَانِ also signifies The two sides, or wooden sideposts, of a door, which are on the right and left of a person entering it. One says, وَقَفَا كَأَنَّهُمَا عِضَادَتَانِ They two stood still as though they were two side-posts of a door. And فُلَانٌ عِضَادَةُ فُلَانٍ Such a one is the close attendant of such a one; not quitting him. [See also عَنْجَةُ الهَوْدَجِ, in art. عنج.]
3 Also The two sides of a buckle and the like: each of them is called عِضَادَةٌ.
